Nintendo 64 on the PSP

PSmonkey is making even more progress on his highly anticipated Nintendo 64 emulator. I cant wait for this one to come out. *drools* Nothing sounds more fun to me right now than playing Super Smash Bros. on my PSP. That is not going to happen soon, but much progress has been made. Here is some information from PSmonkey.

Are games running? Well no they aren’t. Currently I am experimenting with two roms. The first is Mortal Kombat trillogy & the second is the PD rom VNes (nes emu by JL-Picard). Both are calling on the rdp to render and have been a great source to help advance emulation. So what about mario? Well actualy mario is also using the rsp yet is waiting on me to implement vector opcodes. Once I can get mortal kombat playable then I will start up on vector ops in hopes of getting mario up and running soon.

A new release is expected on the 9th. We will see what improvements are made. You can check out the full article on PSmonkey’s site [here].

So you want to Downgrade your 2.0 PSP to 1.50

Ok many people are always asking me “So Drew how did you get that awesome program on your PSP?” I get tired of repeating myself. I gave put together a little guide on how to do downgrade, and what files you will need. There is a possibility of “bricking” your PSP. I have done it multiple times now and have had no problems though. *shrugs* Anyway this is how it is done.

The first file you need to get is the original 1.5 eboot file. You can download that here

The second file you need to download is the MPH Downgrader. That can be obtained here.

The last thing you need is a decompresing/unzipping program. I personaly use WinRar but you may prefer to use another like WinZip. Its up to you.

So first step unzip both downloads. Just have them sent to your desktop so you dont lose them.

Second. You need to make an UPDATE folder in PSP/GAME. This is where you put the unziped eboot file I had you download earlier. This is the file that the PSP loads as the new Firmware.

Next you need to put the overflow.tif file in your PSP/PHOTO file.

The last thing you need to do to get your files ready is that you still have to place the h.bin and index.dat files in the Root Directory of your PSP. Not in your PSP folder but its parent folder. Then plug in your AC/DC adapter into your PSP and you are ready to downgrade.

To initiate the Downgrade you need to go view that overflow.tif file in your photos. Just scroll over it, and a Black sreen will come up with white text. When that happens you have completed the first step. This freezes your PSP, so you need to hold the power button up for 10 seconds to do a hard shut down. You can just take out the battery if you want… lol

After the hard shut down, you then need to go into your Games and run the 1.50 downgrader. Let the program run. You willl have to hit X a few times. Once it is done you WILL recieve an error message. This is a good thing (nice for a change eh?). After that you will have to force your PSP to shut down again. Just hold the power button up for 10 seconds.

Next turn your system back on and another error message will appear. Just press O.

You now have a 1. 5 PSP if you follow all these steps correctly. Go check your accomplishment in your system info. Have fun running Homebrew till your little gamer/hacker’s heart is content. ^-^
