Intro: Blender

Out of the depths of the joint efforts of the Dutch companies Neo Geo and Not a Number Technologies, now labeled the Blender Foundation formed Blender. A free, open-source, 3D modeling and Animation program, Blender is published under the GNU General Public License (The very same that brought you the flavors of Linux).

Blender has the ability to compete with today’s high-dollar (if you like staying legal), high-end, 3D modeling and animation programs (such as 3D Studio Max and Maya) with the exception of not needing to fork over hundreds to thousands of dollars (or bandwidth) to have access to 3D modeling capabilities. With Blender’s current advancements, and the advancements to come, i have no doubt Blender will become more competetive in the industry. Blender’s power is already being put to the test with the animated open movie project named Project Orange. The creaters of Project Orange are not only utlizing Blender, but are helping build Blender into something we all want it to be: A free, easily accessable alternative to our more popular high-end 3D products.

Without further adu, i link you to my hobby, my obession: Blender.

More to be added soon.

[enjoy]
